FAQs

  • Whether you are just considering treatment or have decided that you would like to begin therapy, I am happy to set-up a free, 15-minute phone consultation. These conversations provide the opportunity for you to gain a better feel for my approach to treatment and ask any questions you may have. Consultations are also a good time for us to discuss what is leading you to seek therapy and potential treatment options.

  • I am an “out-of-network” provider and not on insurance panels. Working with an out-of-network provider allows you to receive treatment regardless of diagnosis and number of sessions desired, and it optimizes your privacy. Please contact your insurance company before scheduling to ensure you understand your benefits and reimbursement rate. I am happy to provide you with an invoice that includes your payment history if you are interested in pursuing reimbursement. Questions about reimbursement are best addressed to your insurance provider as policies differ widely between companies.

  • I find that weekly therapy best meets the needs of most individuals with whom I work. The suggested length of therapy varies widely depending on the concerns that individuals are facing. If the problem developed relatively recently and is more limited in scope, for example difficulty transitioning to a new job, then you may anticipate a shorter course of treatment that would conclude within a matter of a few months. If problems are long-standing and affect several areas of your life, then it is likely a treatment that spans a year will be most effective in providing long-term solutions.

  • Racism is a socially perpetuated disease. I am actively engaged in dialogue and spaces to expand my worldview and acknowledge my biases and practices. Likewise I am dedicated to increasing and diversifying the psychology workforce to match the communities I work with. I very much admit I have blind spots and have a responsibility to do better. With that I am open to challenging white folx on how they uphold oppression and believe that it my role to discuss how race plays a role in perpetuating physical and mental health. I am actively engaged in learning about healing the impact of racial trauma. Most importantly to communities of color reading this — your voice, presence, and mental health matters.

  • Yes! My practice is now entirely online. This means you can wear sweats and bring your favorite snacks to session!

Telehealth eliminates traffic woes and gives you more time - the one thing we cannot get back.

Studies in adults show telehealth is just as effective in-person therapy.

  • Yes! I complete psychoeducational and ADHD evaluations. I do not do child custody, personal liability, or court ordered evaluations.

  • No and no! You don’t have to be in crisis mode to be in therapy. Coming to therapy does not mean you are weak or something is wrong with you. I am transparent about my emotions - I like to utilize humor in my approach.
